Acerca de esta aplicación
Daily Scales shows you the fingering for every note of every scale. Pick your instrument and a scale and press play: the music scrolls past one note at a time with the fingering over each note, the note you're on lights up, and the app plays along with you.
Start with one octave of C major. When you're ready there are 35 scales, 34 arpeggios and chords, and 38 patterns to run them through, on all 40 instruments, in all twelve keys.
PLAY-ALONG
The same view as our fingering videos, for any scale you choose. Woodwind, brass and string players also see their instrument drawn under the music: the valves press, the slide moves, the keys close, the fingers stop the string, each as its note comes. On iPad the instrument sits under the music. Turn your iPhone on its side and the music fills the screen.
AT YOUR SPEED
Start as slowly as you need and turn the tempo up as the scale gets easier. Set your range once and every exercise stays inside it, so the app never asks for a note you can't play yet.
THE PAGE
Pick an instrument, a scale, a pattern to run it in and a rhythm to write it in, and watch the page engrave: the right clef, the right octave, the right key for what you play. Fingerings, string fingerings, slide positions and valve numbers are written on the notes, in the systems players are taught from.
THE BAND
Most scale practice is done against a click. Daily Scales plays a band that knows what you are reading: drums and a drone under every scale and pattern, the whole rhythm section over a tune's changes. It re-rolls itself every chorus, so it never plays the same thing twice. Tune to the drone, tap in your tempo, or have it get faster on every pass.
THE KEYS
Stay in one key, take the scale around the circle of fifths or fourths, or let the app pick keys at random. The band follows the key wherever it goes.
ROUTINES
Ready-made routines run from first one-octave scales to complete graded exam syllabuses, each with a note on what it trains. Or fill a hat with the scales and arpeggios you want and let Random Mix deal: no two sessions come out the same.
YOUR TUNES
Import a chord chart or screenshot the lead sheet from your own book. Daily Scales writes your scale and arpeggio patterns over the changes, voice-led from chord to chord, while the band plays the form behind you.
YOUR SHEETS
Set a page up the way you like it and save it to Your Sheets. Any page exports as a PDF you can send to anyone, whether or not they own the app.
FOR TEACHERS
Build a student a routine that goes everywhere they avoid, from one-octave scales with the fingerings written in to seventh arpeggios in 3rd inversion around the circle of fourths. Send it as an image, a PDF, or a QR code they scan into their own copy.
THE INSTRUMENTS
Piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, flute, piccolo, alto flute, descant and treble recorders, oboe, English horn, clarinets in B flat, A and E flat, bass clarinet, bassoon, contrabassoon, saxophones from soprano to baritone, trumpet, French horn, trombones from alto to bass, euphonium, tuba, voice in four ranges, glockenspiel, xylophone, marimba and vibraphone. Each with its own ranges, clefs and fingering systems.
OFFLINE, AND YOURS
Everything works offline: the engraving, the band, the import, the export. No account, no ads, no subscription, no tracking. One purchase, on every iPhone and iPad signed in to your Apple Account.
Daily Scales is in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional).
