SCUM

SCUM asks for patience because it is a survival game obsessed with bodily detail, inventories, and long-term management rather than quick thrills. By our assessment, its unusual selling point is the focus on hunger, metabolism, weight, and even the sort of maintenance that many survival games only skim past. That can make it feel more grounded than the usual open-world survival loop, but it also makes the pace slow and the early hours heavy with menus and upkeep. In practice the game is about tracking gear, watching meters, and trying not to fall behind the basic demands of staying alive. Compared with simpler survival games it is fussier and more simulation-minded, which is the point and the barrier at the same time. It is for players who like harsh systems and routine management, not for anyone looking for a loose sandbox with fast payoff. The ceiling is tied to whether that kind of detail feels interesting rather than tedious.
