GUN

GUN goes for the straight, dusty cowboy fantasy: shooting, riding, hunting, and moving through a frontier world that is more action game than careful simulation. By our assessment, it is most interesting to players who want a Western theme wrapped around open-zone combat and mission play rather than a slow, history-book version of the Old West. Its strength is the clear identity; the game knows exactly what mood it wants, and that gives it a rough, readable pace. The downside is that it dates quickly as a sandbox, because the systems are simpler than in bigger open-world games and the map can feel sparse once the novelty of the setting fades. In practice it is the sort of game that lives on atmosphere, quick fights, and the pleasure of being dropped into a classic frontier setup. It sits between a story-led action game and a looser open-world shooter, with less depth than the biggest names but more character than a generic gunplay package.
