Chasm

Chasm asks for patience in the way a proper exploratory platformer does: you keep moving through connected rooms, learn the map by heart, and come back with better movement and a clearer route. Its best side is the hand-built feel of a Metroidvania world, with platforming, combat, and loot all feeding the same loop of opening new paths. By our assessment, the drawback is familiar too: because it leans on procedural structure, it can feel less memorable than the very best hand-authored entries in the genre. In play it is about careful jumps, enemy patterns, and the small satisfaction of finally reaching a blocked door after getting stronger. Chasm sits somewhere in the middle of the Metroidvania field, closer to comfortingly familiar than radically inventive. People who like steady exploration, backtracking, and upgrades that matter will get the most from it, while those who want a dramatic story or a wildly original twist may find it plain. The result is solid, specific, and built around movement through a maze rather than around surprises.
