WWE Slam City

WWE Slam City takes wrestling characters out of the ring and turns them into a cartoonish comedy setting, which is the main point of the show. By our assessment, that odd shift is what makes it memorable: it plays with WWE faces in a more exaggerated, kid-friendly way than standard wrestling programming. The trade-off is that the format leans on gimmick and familiarity, so anyone outside the wrestling world may miss half the joke. In practice it is breezy, loud, and built more for personality riffs than for plot. The Astrina catalogue files it under Comedy, which makes sense for the slapstick tone. It sits apart from live WWE action and also from more conventional animated series, because the appeal is mostly in the wrestlers-as-characters idea. It is for viewers who already know the WWE universe, and less for people wanting a standalone cartoon with much depth.
