Unhappily Ever After

Unhappily Ever After takes the clean fairy-tale promise and flips it into domestic comedy about marriage, irritation, and the gap between fantasy and routine. By our assessment, the show’s best material is the sarcastic family setup and the way it mines annoyance instead of sweetness. The limit is that a running joke can only be stretched so far before it starts to feel like the same argument with new outfits. In practice, that gives it a sitcom rhythm built on repetition, personalities, and nagging domestic friction. Compared with warmer family comedies, it is meaner around the edges and less interested in sentiment. Unhappily Ever After is for viewers who like their sitcoms cynical and familiar, not glossy or sentimental.
