The Time Tunnel

The Time Tunnel is Adventure with a science-fiction engine under it, and that mix is what makes the title still easy to grasp. By our assessment, its main attraction is the premise of moving through time rather than merely visiting one setting after another, which gives the series a built-in sense of variety. The downside is that time-travel adventure can become repetitive if each stop feels like a different costume on the same idea. In practice, the show depends on whatever weekly problem or period it drops into, so the texture changes more than the core formula. It sits in the older adventure-TV tradition rather than in the more tightly serialized sci-fi of later decades, and that matters for what kind of patience it asks for.
