Secrets and Wives

Secrets and Wives is a TV series built on relationship drama and the social fallout around it, which is enough to tell you who it is for. By our assessment, it offers the basic pull of this kind of television: secrets, confrontation, and the slow unfurling of private trouble in a public frame. Its limit is also obvious — without a sharper premise, the material can blur into another round of familiar arguments. The viewing experience is usually all talk, reaction, and emotional accounting. Compared with stronger dramas, it sounds more like a generic title than a clearly defined form. It is the sort of series that people reach for when they want interpersonal mess first and plot machinery second.
