Important Things with Demetri Martin is a sketch-comedy show built around one performer’s deadpan drawings, lists, and little structural tricks. By our assessment, its real strength is the blend of stand-up rhythm with visual gags that feel spare instead of noisy. The downside is also built in: that low-key style can run thin if you want big ensemble chaos or a wider comic range. In practice it feels clever without being loud, and a lot of the humor depends on timing, setup, and the exact shape of a joke on the page or screen. Compared with broader sketch shows, it is more minimal and more single-voice, which is its identity rather than a flaw. Important Things with Demetri Martin is a good fit for viewers who like comedy that stays neat, dry, and a little sideways.
