Da Vinci's Demons

Da Vinci's Demons tries to turn Renaissance history into adventure TV with secret societies, invention, and theatrical intrigue. By our assessment, its best quality is the ambition of the premise: it wants art, politics, and speculative fantasy in one package, and that gives it a lively surface. The problem is that the show often leans on style and invention more than on historical weight, so the result can feel more decorative than grounded. In practice it is busy, flashy, and willing to chase spectacle instead of patience. Compared with stricter period dramas, it sits much closer to fantasy-adventure television with a historical skin. That makes it easier to enjoy as a concept than as a careful historical piece. The limit is simple: if you want the Renaissance treated with discipline, this is not the lane it chooses.
