Blade: The Series has the clean appeal of a vampire-hunting action show, with the title character’s half-human, half-vampire setup doing a lot of the work. By our assessment, the best part is the straightforward action framework: fights, monster-hunting, and a comic-book premise that does not waste time pretending to be delicate. The weakness is just as familiar, because this kind of series can feel narrow if the plots do not keep finding fresh ways to push the premise. In practice it is all dark corridors, clipped exchanges, and a constant sense of moving from one confrontation to the next. Blade: The Series sits closer to genre pulp than to prestige television, and that is exactly how it behaves.
