Absolutely Fabulous

Absolutely Fabulous is a comedy for viewers who want social vanity pushed so far that it becomes pure character noise. Its sharpest weapon is the clash between image and reality: fashion talk, status chasing, and glamorous self-mythology keep collapsing into mess, and the show knows exactly how to make that collapse funny. By our assessment, it works best as a study in excess, with Ab Fab-style rudeness, drinking, and self-delusion used as comic fuel rather than decoration. The downside is that the style can be repetitive if the whole joke of obsession and bad behavior is not your thing. In practice it moves fast, leans hard on attitude, and depends on very specific British comic timing. It sits well above generic sitcom chatter because it has a fixed comic identity and a clear satirical target, even when it is simply piling on chaos. The result is loud, stylized, and very committed to its own world of bad judgment.
