onex Dirty Water Pump is a utility pump for moving water that is already full of grit, sludge, or other mess, so it belongs with drainage work rather than clean household watering. By our assessment, its real value is in that rough job: dirty-water pumps are made to keep going where clearer-water pumps would clog or stop. The downside is the usual one for this category, which is that they are not delicate tools and they are not meant for fine control. In practice the work is noisy, dirty, and very much about getting water away rather than making anything pretty. It sits among sump and transfer pumps, but with a tougher brief than the neat little pumps used for clean water. The name is direct enough that the use case is obvious.
