microhoo Personal Air cooler promises the kind of very local cooling that sits between a fan and a real air conditioner. By our assessment, that makes it a fit for a desk, bedside table, or small personal space where moving air and a bit of evaporative cooling are enough. The downside is built into the category: these units do not cool a room the way AC does, and their effect drops fast once you expect them to cover more than one person and one spot. In practice they usually ask for water, a bit of setup, and low expectations about temperature. Compared with a desk fan, the microhoo Personal Air cooler may feel more specific; compared with air conditioning, it is a much smaller answer to a much bigger heat problem. The result is a personal appliance, not a substitute for proper climate control.
