WiFi Repeater is for stretching a home network into a dead zone, and that is where it makes sense: a back room, a hallway, a corner of a flat where the main router gives up. By our assessment, its real strength is simple reach, because it can pick up an existing signal and pass it on without asking for new cabling. The trade-off is that it usually cannot invent speed; it works with the signal it receives, so a weak input often means a weak result. In practice it is a small box that wants a sensible place on the wall or shelf and a bit of patience while you find the right spot. Compared with a mesh kit it is the cheaper, cruder answer, but also the one people buy when they only need one awkward room covered. It is not for someone trying to fix a bad internet line, only the patchy wireless edge of it.
