Wall socket is the plain household fitting that lets plugs connect to mains power, so it is for anyone using electrical appliances in a room or building. By our assessment, its strength is simple reliability: a good socket disappears into the wall and does one basic job without fuss. The downside is just as basic, because it gives you fixed placement, fixed voltage expectations, and no flexibility once the wiring is in place. In practice it is something people stop noticing until a plug does not fit, or an outlet is too far from where the device sits. It sits at the most ordinary end of electrical hardware, below the more feature-heavy power strips and charging stations, and it does not try to be clever.
