Velux New Generation Glass Rooflights are for rooms that need daylight, fresh air, and a cleaner roofline than a bulky dormer. By our assessment, what sets them apart is the combination of roof window and skylight logic: they bring light deep into a space while keeping the opening integrated into the roof instead of feeling like an add-on. The downside is practical and predictable, because rooflights are tied to the roof itself, so installation, sealing, and maintenance matter more than with a normal wall window. In use they change a room fast: more sky, brighter corners, and a more open feel, but also more glare and more heat management to think about depending on the room. They sit above basic skylights and alongside Velux’s wider roof-window range, which makes them a serious building product rather than a decorative touch. By our assessment, they make the most sense where daylight is scarce and the roof can support the work.
