Toys is so broad a label that the only honest thing to say is that it covers objects made for play, most often for children, though collectors and hobbyists also keep some kinds around. By our assessment, that breadth is its one real strength and its biggest weakness at the same time: it can mean anything from a soft doll to a building set to a simple ball. In practice, the word gives almost no guidance on quality, age fit, material, or safety, which is exactly why the category needs more detail before it becomes useful. Compared with a named toy line, Toys is too open-ended to judge as a single product, yet that openness is also why it shows up everywhere. As a label, it is serviceable, but it tells you very little on its own.
