THEMONSTERS Big into Energy

THEMONSTERS Big into Energy reads like collectible character merchandise rather than a single traditional toy, so it is mainly for people who already like designer figures, blind-box style characters, or desk display pieces. By our assessment, its strength is in the pop of character design: these products usually sell an expression, a color palette, and a shelf presence more than a function. The drawback is that collectible lines often lean hard on style, which leaves little to do after the figure is unboxed and placed on a shelf. In practice, the appeal is the small ritual of handling a character object and deciding where it fits among other pieces. THEMONSTERS Big into Energy sits closer to art toys and branded collectibles than to ordinary playthings, so it will not satisfy someone looking for open-ended play or durability first. It is a display object with personality, and that is where its interest ends and begins.
