String light

String light is the plain decorative strand people use to add soft points of light to rooms, balconies, trees, or holiday setups. By our assessment, its best quality is flexibility: it can change the mood of a space with very little effort and works in places where a larger lamp would feel clumsy. The downside is equally plain, because string lights are atmosphere first and illumination second, so they do not do serious lighting work on their own. In practice they are often more about draping, tucking, and hiding cables than about switching something on and forgetting it. Compared with a lamp or a ceiling fixture, this is a small visual tool, and it makes sense when the goal is decoration rather than brightness.
