Motor wash is the sort of product people reach for when a vehicle needs a cleaner that can handle road grime, grease, and the general dirt of daily use. By our assessment, its job is straightforward, and its best feature is practical cleaning that is made for painted metal, plastic trim, and the rest of an exterior wash routine. The downside is that this category lives or dies on correct use, because a harsh formula or sloppy rinsing can leave residue where you do not want it. In practice it is a utilitarian bottle, closer to maintenance than pampering, and it belongs with other car-care cleaners rather than household soap. The ceiling is simple: it cleans, but it does not replace proper detailing.
