Mercedes-Benz GLS, GLE sits in the full-size and midsize luxury SUV lane, where comfort, quiet cruising, and a high driving position matter more than agility. By our assessment, the appeal is the cabin space, the calm ride, and the polished feel these models are known for in the brand's lineup. The trade-off is obvious too: they are big, costly to run, and not built for easy city parking or light fuel bills. In practice, they feel like long-distance family transport with a strong premium finish, more relaxed than sporty. Against rivals from BMW, Audi, and Volvo, they usually sell the idea of Mercedes comfort first. The GLS is the larger, roomier choice, while the GLE is the more manageable one. That size is the whole point and also the thing that gets in the way on narrow streets.
