By our assessment, its appeal comes from the mix of style, raised seating, and the extra traction of ALL4, which gives it more road confidence than a front-drive city car. The downside is the usual one for this kind of vehicle: once you add battery and hybrid hardware, the car becomes heavier and more complex than the simple MINI shape suggests. In practice it feels less like a tiny hatch and more like a small utility car with a premium badge and a city-friendly body.
