KONG laser sounds built for pets, and the category matters more than the name: anything with KONG in it usually aims at durable play rather than decoration. By our assessment, the appeal is obvious for cats or dogs that need a simple chasing game or a toy with a light-up gimmick. The trade-off is equally plain: laser toys can be exciting for a minute and then leave the animal with nothing physical to catch, so they are a helper for play, not a full replacement for it. In practice these products are usually about attention, repetition, and a bit of movement in a small space. Compared with stuffed toys, chew toys, or puzzle feeders, a laser sits at the fast and fleeting end of the shelf.
