Jaguar XF makes sense for drivers who want a large rear-wheel-drive executive saloon with a calmer personality than the badge suggests. It is good at long-distance cruising, settled motorway manners and the easy shove of its six-cylinder versions, and by our assessment, it still reads as a polished alternative to the usual German choices. The weak spot is practicality: the back seat and boot are not as generous as the shape promises, and the cabin can feel a little older in layout than rivals with brighter screens and fresher controls. In use it is the sort of car that settles down at speed and asks less of the driver than many sportier rivals.
