Hoot Kids Flip Flops are the familiar summer footwear for children: light, open, easy to kick on and off, and by our assessment, useful when a child mostly needs something simple for warm weather, poolside, or quick errands. Their best trait is obvious comfort in hot conditions and the low fuss of a slip-on design. The trade-off is also obvious: flip flops give little support, no real protection, and can be awkward for long walking or rough ground. In practice they are the kind of item that disappears into daily use until the strap rubs, the sole wears down, or the fit is just wrong. Compared with sandals, they are less secure; compared with closed shoes, they are far less protective.
