Grzechotka

Grzechotka is a rattle, plain and simple, and it is aimed at babies who are just learning to grip, shake, and react to sound. Its strength is the most basic one a toy can have: an immediate noise from a small movement, which makes cause and effect easy to understand. By our assessment, the limit is also obvious, because a rattle does one thing and then repeats it; older children move on quickly, and adults only look for this when they want an early sensory toy. In practice it is light, repetitive, and often more useful for soothing or attention than for real play. It sits in the most traditional corner of infant toys, far from anything electronic or clever. Grzechotka is not trying to be more than a first sound toy, and that narrowness is exactly why it works.
