Fulkeley Astronaut starry sky projector is one of those bedroom gadgets that aims to cover a ceiling with light points and a space theme. By our assessment, it does the job of a decorative projector well enough when the goal is mood, not realism: the appeal is the easy, instant transformation of a room into something more playful. The downside is also built into the category, because these projectors can look repetitive, rely on darkness to work properly, and do little once the novelty fades. In practice they are more ambient light than serious equipment, with settings and a remote often doing most of the work. It sits alongside other star projectors and light projectors, and what matters is usually the look it gives a small room at night. Fulkeley Astronaut starry sky projector is for casual decoration, not for someone who wants a precise or technically rich light source.
