By our assessment, the real strength is packaging, because this kind of vehicle gives Ford Transit usefulness in a size that is easier to place, park and thread through tight streets than a full-size van. The honest trade-off is payload and cabin space, which are naturally lower than in bigger Transit models. In practice, that means sliding doors, a boxy load area and a driving position that feels much more van-like than car-like. Against rivals such as small vans from Peugeot, Citroën or Volkswagen, it sits in the mainstream of the segment rather than the fancy end of it.
