Fülbevaló

Fülbevaló is a jewellery item for the ear, usually an earring or pair of earrings, and that is already enough to place it: small, worn close to the face, and chosen as much for look as for function. Its strength is obvious in the category itself, because earrings can do a lot with very little material. The downside is equally plain: they are easy to lose, can irritate pierced ears, and depend heavily on comfort and fastening. In practice the whole point is quick visible decoration, not utility or durability. It sits in the ordinary middle of jewellery, between daily wear pieces and more formal adornment.
