By our assessment, its strength is the clear focus on hands-on hardware: kits, modules, and parts that invite building instead of just clicking through menus. The downside is the usual one for this kind of gear, which is that assembly, calibration, and trial-and-error are part of the deal. In practice it suits people who like open-ended projects and do not mind a bit of tuning before results look clean. Against polished consumer brands, EleksMaker sits closer to the workbench than the living room, and that is the point. The name has a very DIY feel, and the products usually do too.
