CAR

CAR is the plainest possible car product entry, and that makes it hard to say anything grand about it beyond the obvious. By our assessment, it stands for private transport in the everyday sense: something for commuting, errands, family hauling, and the usual costs that come with owning a vehicle. Its strength is the same one that defines the category itself: it gets people and things from one place to another without much explanation. The downside is just as familiar, because a car brings fuel, parking, maintenance, insurance, and all the attention that comes with a machine on wheels. In practice a car is less a single object than a bundle of compromises about space, comfort, speed, and expense. It sits opposite walking, cycling, public transport, and taxis, depending on what the trip needs. As a category, CAR is useful when mobility matters and clumsy when it does not.
