YETI is the outdoor gear brand people reach for when they want hard-sided coolers, insulated drinkware and rugged bags that can take a lot of abuse. By our assessment, its real strength is durability joined to insulation: the coolers are built to hold temperature, and the cups and bottles have the same heavy-duty feel. The price of that toughness is size, weight and a premium feel that can be overkill if all someone needs is a basic cooler for casual use. In practice, YETI is about solid latches, thick walls and gear that feels deliberately overbuilt, which is part of why it has such a strong reputation. Against cheaper picnic brands it sits much higher on toughness and finish, but it is not pretending to be light or cheap. It suits people who spend time outdoors or want gear that lasts, and it is less sensible if portability matters more than brute strength.
