Xero is the cloud accounting package small businesses reach for when they want invoicing, bank feeds, payroll tools and a clean ledger without keeping everything on desktop software. By our assessment, its strength is the way it keeps day-to-day bookkeeping organised across the browser and the app, with an interface that stays readable once the accounts get busy. The trade-off is that it still asks for some accounting sense, because no software makes reconciliations or tax work feel magical. In practice it is the kind of system people live in for receipts, bills and month-end close, and that routine can feel calm rather than fiddly. Against simpler bookkeeping apps it has more structure and more depth, but it is not the sort of thing that turns accounting into a toy.
