Westpac

Westpac is one of Australia's big banks, and people usually come to it for everyday banking rather than for anything exotic. By our assessment, it is good at the basic banking stack: accounts, cards, home loans, business banking, and the branch-and-app combination that large banks still rely on. The downside is the usual one for a major bank: fees, product complexity, and a service style that can feel institutional instead of personal. In practice that means forms, logins, and a lot of standard financial plumbing, which is useful when it works and dull when it does not. Against smaller digital banks it has more reach and a fuller product set; against local credit unions it is less intimate. Westpac is for people who want a mainstream Australian bank with a wide menu of services and are comfortable living inside that system.
