The Community State Bank sounds even more explicitly like a local bank built around a town or county customer base, and by our assessment, that is the point of it. It is the kind of institution people use for everyday accounts, lending, and in-person service when they want a smaller bank with a named place behind it. The upside is the local fit, because community banks can keep things personal and plain. The limit is that they tend to be narrower than bigger competitors, with fewer bells and whistles and less reach beyond their own area. In practice that usually means branch-first banking and a fairly traditional pace. The Community State Bank is for people who want a community lender, not a broad financial platform.
