The Base

The Base is the sort of company name that could fit retail, property, fitness, software, or almost anything else, which makes it memorable but also vague. By our assessment, that vagueness is the main problem: you cannot tell from the name whether it is a consumer brand, a holding company, or a service outfit. Names like this work when the business already has a strong visual identity and a clear market position, because the words themselves do very little. In practice that means the company has to do more explaining than a name with a built-in clue. It sits behind much more specific rivals, and without extra context it stays hard to read.
