By our assessment, its real strength is reach: a bank of this sort can move between Japan, Asia, and the wider global market with the infrastructure big companies actually need. The trade-off is that a bank this large is not built for a cozy local feel, and its services are aimed much more at institutions and business clients than at ordinary retail banking. In practice that means dense products, layered compliance, and a scale that can look impersonal unless the customer needs exactly that kind of reach. It stands above regional lenders on scope, but it is also less about everyday branch banking and more about corporate finance at serious scale.
