SOLMAR

SOLMAR is a very short company name, and that usually puts the emphasis on branding rather than explanation. By our assessment, the appeal is its clean, spare sound: it could sit on clothing, design, hospitality, or any business that wants to feel neat and modern. The cost of that simplicity is obvious, because the name itself gives almost no clue about the actual line of work. In practice, it is the kind of label that depends on everything else around it — logo, sector, and reputation — to carry meaning. Compared with the more bureaucratic names in this list, it feels lighter and more commercial. It works best when the business behind it is already clear, because the word SOLMAR alone does not do the explaining.
