Press TV

Press TV is an English-language news channel with a strong current-affairs and commentary bent, and that is exactly who tends to look for it: viewers interested in international politics rather than general entertainment. By our assessment, its main asset is that it offers a clear, opinionated editorial line instead of pretending to be blandly universal. The same quality also limits it, because a channel built around a pointed perspective will not suit people who want a neutral-feeling news diet. In practice it is a talk-and-report format, heavy on framing and discussion rather than variety. It belongs in the broader world of news broadcasting, not in the space of light factual TV. The name is straightforward, the purpose is straightforward, and the audience is fairly specific, which keeps it legible even when you disagree with it.
