Peking University

Peking University is a flagship Chinese university, and by our assessment it earns that status through breadth, research strength, and the weight it carries in the national academic world. It is the sort of place people choose for deep study in the humanities, social sciences, law, medicine, and science, not for a narrow professional shortcut. Its real strength is the combination of prestige and intellectual range, which gives it a very broad reach. The trade-off is predictably heavy: high selectivity, demanding coursework, and a serious campus culture that asks for patience and stamina. In practice, that means long hours, substantial reading, and a lot of independent work rather than a light, guided path. Compared with smaller universities, it has more scale and more influence; compared with specialist schools, it is less focused but far more complete. It is best for students who want a top-tier research university with wide academic possibilities. If someone wants an easy route, this is not that kind of place.
