PJSC Moscow Exchange MICEX-RTS is the same kind of institution in a more formal English coat: a stock exchange and trading venue for shares, bonds and derivatives. By our assessment, that makes it useful to people who need the market infrastructure itself, not a retail-facing product with a friendly front end. Its real strength is the concentration of trading and the price reference that follows from it; its limit is the same thing, because an exchange can be essential without being pleasant or simple to use. In practice this is all rules, access through intermediaries and a lot of moving parts that ordinary users never see. It sits in the same world as other national exchanges, and the differences are mostly in governance and market structure rather than in anything glamorous. The name may sound grand, but the job is plain exchange plumbing.
