Nutella

Nutella is the spread people reach for when they want chocolate-hazelnut sweetness on toast, crepes, or straight from the jar. By our assessment, it does that job with a smooth texture and a flavour that is instantly recognisable, which is why it sits so comfortably in the breakfast-aisle middle ground between plain jam and richer dessert spreads. The trade-off is obvious too: it is very sweet, so it is not trying to be a serious pantry staple in the savoury sense.
