That also explains the downside: semiconductors are cyclical, capital-heavy, and tied to customer demand in other industries. In practice this is a company of long design cycles, qualification work, and parts that disappear inside finished products. It stands nearer to infrastructure than to consumer-facing chip brands. If someone wants a maker of practical, widely used components, NXP makes sense; if someone wants consumer sparkle or a pure-play AI story, this is not that. The Dutch base suits a firm that has grown through deep industrial and automotive supply chains.
