By our assessment, clinical labs can be very good at one thing that matters a lot — turning samples into results that are precise enough for diagnosis and follow-up. The downside is equally concrete: the customer rarely sees much beyond forms, labels, waiting, and the occasional need to repeat a sample if it was handled badly or was not enough. In practice, the experience is usually efficient but impersonal, because the value is in the back end, not the front desk. It sits squarely in the lab-testing field, not the hospital or the pharmacy, and it fits patients, clinics, and doctors who need standard diagnostics more than hand-holding.
