McKesson makes the unglamorous end of healthcare run: wholesale distribution, pharmacy services, and a lot of the supply-chain plumbing hospitals and pharmacies depend on. By our assessment, that is exactly where it is strongest, because scale and reliability matter more there than shine. The trade-off is obvious: this kind of company is exposed to regulation, thin margins, and the boring pressure of getting the right drug to the right place on time. In practice it is a logistics-and-contracts business more than a public-facing brand, which is why most people only notice it when the system works. Compared with a consumer-facing healthcare name, McKesson sits much closer to the operational core. It suits people who want exposure to the healthcare distribution side rather than to medicines themselves, and it leaves little room for romance; the work is moving stock, paperwork, and trust.
