Macquarie Group

Macquarie Group is aimed at people who need banking, asset management, and the deeper end of financial services rather than a street-level retail bank. By our assessment, its real strength is breadth: it can sit in markets, lending, infrastructure finance, and investment management without pretending to be a simple branch-banking name. The trade-off is that this is a complex institution, and that complexity is part of the job as much as part of the appeal. In practice Macquarie Group is the sort of firm where the products and the balance sheet matter more than a friendly shopfront, so the experience is shaped by documentation, risk, and specialist knowledge. It sits above ordinary high-street banking and below the fantasy of a one-size-fits-all financial provider.
