MGM Resorts is the name behind big casino hotels, shows, restaurants and convention floors, so it is for people who want the whole entertainment complex in one place. By our assessment, its strength is the scale of those resort properties: rooms, gaming, food and event space sit under one roof and make the business feel integrated on the ground. The downside is that this kind of company lives and dies by a high-spend, high-regulation model, and it can feel impersonal when all you want is a simple stay. In practice, MGM Resorts is less about one hotel and more about a branded strip of things to do once you are inside. It sits near Caesars and other large casino operators, with the US base matching the Las Vegas-centred side of its identity.
