LUKOIL OAO

By our assessment, LUKOIL OAO is one of the major Russian oil names, known for the full spread of oil work: extraction, refining, fuel sales, and a broad retail network of service stations. That breadth is its main strength, because it ties upstream production to everyday fuel distribution and gives the company real weight in the sector. The downside is also part of that scale: it is exposed to commodity swings, regulation, and the heavy, capital-hungry side of energy business. In practice it is a classic integrated oil company, not a nimble specialist, and that means a lot of infrastructure behind every public-facing fill-up. By our assessment, it sits near the top end of its field in visibility and reach, while remaining the sort of giant that people meet mostly through petrol pumps and product labels.
