King

King is the Swedish name behind Candy Crush and other mobile games, so its audience is broad, impatient, and usually on a phone rather than a console. By our assessment, it does the free-to-play puzzle loop very well: short sessions, clear goals, bright feedback, and enough repetition to keep people coming back. The trade-off is obvious too, because that kind of design can feel grindy and engineered around spending rather than around depth. In practice it is quick to understand and easy to dip into, then just as easy to lose an hour to. Compared with story-driven or skill-heavy games, King sits on the casual, highly polished end of the market, where reach matters more than complexity. The Swedish base is part of the picture, and the company’s real strength is making simple mechanics travel widely across devices and audiences.
